Foxes have a wide variety of vocalizations, and some of their sounds can be pretty surprising if you’ve never heard them before! From screams to high-pitched howls, foxes can make eerie or even unsettling noises, especially at night.
One sound that might really catch your attention is their “scream”—a loud, high-pitched, almost human-like shriek that foxes make, especially during mating season. It can sound quite otherworldly, and people are often shocked when they first hear it!
Another interesting sound is the “gekker”, which is a rapid, chattering, or whimpering noise, often made by kits (fox babies) or when a fox is feeling defensive.
If you’ve never heard it before, it can sound pretty wild, but it’s just part of how they communicate in the wild!
Have you heard any of these sounds or are you curious to hear one?
