Some baby monkeys may respond positively

  1. Check for Basic Needs: Babies cry when they are hungry, thirsty, or uncomfortable. Make sure the monkey has enough food and water. If the baby monkey is breastfeeding, ensure that it has access to its mother. If not, offer an appropriate formula or food designed for primates.
  2. Comfort Through Touch: Just like human infants, baby monkeys may need the comfort of touch. Gently cradle the baby monkey in your arms, holding it close to your body, as warmth and security can be calming. Some baby monkeys may respond positively to being rocked gently or being swaddled.
  3. Address Physical Discomfort: Check for any physical discomfort, such as tight clothing, a wet diaper, or a scratch. Ensure the baby is not in pain, as discomfort will continue to cause crying.
  4. Soothing Sounds: Some baby monkeys find comfort in familiar sounds. Try playing soft, soothing music or mimicking the sounds of the mother or other monkeys. This may help the baby feel safer and more relaxed.
  5. Create a Calm Environment: A stressful environment can make a baby monkey more agitated. Ensure the area is quiet and free of distractions. Dim the lights, lower any loud noises, and avoid sudden movements.

By attending to these needs, most baby monkeys can be calmed relatively quickly. Always observe and be patient, as each baby monkey is unique.
